Santa Fe Fuego Edge North Platte 80s 27-26

May 30 2024 The Santa Fe Fuego outlasted the North Platte 80s 27-26 in a high-scoring contest at Fort Marcy Park. Santa Fe collected 22 hits and overcame a 15-run eighth inning by North Platte, scoring nine runs in the eighth and eight more in the ninth to secure the one-run victory. North Platte finished with 21 hits and three errors, while Santa Fe played errorless baseball.

Micah Walker led North Platte with three hits, three home runs and 10 RBI. Chris Calhoun and Tjay Mullins each added three hits, while Cristofer Hernandez had two hits, four runs and four RBI. North Platte’s 15-run eighth inning included a three-run homer by Garrett Flaagan and one of Walker’s home runs.

Santa Fe received four hits, four runs and four RBI from Zeke Hass, while Ryuya Enomoto also collected four hits. Kole Renken scored five runs and drove in four, and Sean Bennett hit two home runs while finishing with three hits, four runs and seven RBI. Santa Fe also got three hits and two RBI from Dominic Scotti and three hits and two RBI from Jeremy DiBartolomeo.

Robert Starr earned the win for Santa Fe by pitching a scoreless ninth inning with two strikeouts and no hits allowed. Tristan Cavazos struck out seven in five innings, allowing four runs, while North Platte starter Chase Titilah worked six innings and allowed seven runs with five strikeouts. Trevor Nelson took the loss after allowing eight runs in one inning.
