Blackwell Flycatchers Blank North Platte 80s 11-0

June 12 2024 The Blackwell Flycatchers defeated the North Platte 80s 11-0 at Morgan Field, combining a 13-hit attack with a dominant complete-game shutout from Matthew Hickey. North Platte finished with three hits and committed two errors, while Blackwell made one error.

Hickey earned the win after allowing three hits and one walk over nine scoreless innings. He struck out 12 of the 32 batters he faced. Kerry Wright took the loss for North Platte after working six innings, allowing five hits and three runs, two earned, with three walks and two strikeouts.

Blackwell scored once in the first inning, added two runs in the fourth and one in the seventh before breaking the game open with a seven-run eighth. J. Dice went 3-for-5 with three doubles, two runs and one RBI. Jack Skantze also collected three hits and drove in three runs.

R. Salinas contributed a home run and three RBI for the Flycatchers, while Rey Lozano had two hits and an RBI. C. Pfafman and C. Phillips also drove in runs in the winning effort.
