North Platte 80s Rally Past Garden City Wind 13-8

July 4 2024 The North Platte 80s overcame an early deficit to defeat the Garden City Wind 13-8. North Platte trailed 6-1 after two innings and remained behind 8-1 after five before scoring five runs in the sixth and five more in the seventh to take control. The 80s finished with 12 hits and did not commit an error, while Garden City had 11 hits and also played errorless baseball.

Coby Tweten led North Platte with three hits, including a home run and two doubles, four RBI and one run scored. Derek Wood went 3-for-5 with two RBI and three runs, while Tjay Mullins added two hits and two RBI. Garrett Flaagan also drove in two runs. Garden City’s Jordan Williams hit two home runs and drove in four runs, and Adam Purdy and Robert Morosetti also homered for the Wind.

Lake Fisher earned the win after throwing three scoreless innings without allowing a hit and striking out three. Zachary Fogle worked the first four innings for North Platte, allowing 10 hits and eight earned runs with two strikeouts. Garden City starter Jake Norris struck out eight over 5.1 innings, allowing two hits and three earned runs, but Gavin Peterson was charged with the loss after allowing four hits and three runs in one-third of an inning.

North Platte added a run in the eighth and another in the ninth to complete the comeback. Garden City was held scoreless over the final seven innings as the 80s secured the 13-8 victory.
