North Platte 80s Rally Past Santa Fe Fuego 11-7

July 9 2024 The North Platte 80s defeated the Santa Fe Fuego 11-7 after scoring in six of their eight offensive innings. North Platte erased an early 1-0 deficit with two runs in the third and four in the fourth, then added three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth. Santa Fe scored twice in the fifth and sixth innings but could not close the gap.

Sean Bennett led the North Platte offense with two hits, including a home run, and six RBI. Derek Wood and Cristofer Hernandez each scored twice, while Coby Tweten and Ryan Lutinski added an RBI apiece. North Platte finished with eight hits and seven walks and took advantage of six Santa Fe errors.

Santa Fe collected 12 hits, led by Tristan Cavazos and Zeke Hass with three hits apiece. Clayton Evans went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI, while Rodney Scarver and Hass also drove in two runs each. Santa Fe scored its other run in the first inning and added single runs in the seventh and ninth.

Hobie Hood earned the win for North Platte after allowing seven hits and five earned runs in six innings with one walk and three strikeouts. Lake Fisher delivered a scoreless inning with two strikeouts, while Clayton Evans took the loss for Santa Fe despite working seven innings. Evans allowed seven hits and 10 runs, including three earned, with five walks and three strikeouts.
