North Platte 80s Pull Away From Trinidad Triggers 11-5

July 12 2024 The North Platte 80s scored six runs in the eighth inning to break open a tie game and defeat the Trinidad Triggers 11-5. North Platte finished with 12 hits, while Trinidad collected seven. The 80s also turned two double plays and overcame two errors in the victory.

North Platte led 2-0 after the first inning and extended its advantage to 5-1 through four innings. Trinidad rallied with four runs in the seventh to even the score, but the 80s answered with a six-run eighth. Trevor Nelson went 3-for-6 with four RBI and two runs, while Derek Wood went 2-for-5 with a home run two RBI and three runs. Sean Bennett added a double and two RBI, and Marcos Corrales and Tjay Mullins each had two hits.

Jakobe Smith led Trinidad with two hits three RBI and a home run. Omar Ortiz also had two hits and one RBI, while DeMarcus Kelly drove in a run. North Platte starter Kerry Wright worked six innings and allowed four hits and one earned run while striking out six. Lake Fisher pitched one inning, and Justin Stewart earned the win after a scoreless inning with one strikeout.
