Trinidad Triggers Power Past North Platte 80s 17-8

July 13 2024 The Trinidad Triggers defeated the North Platte 80s 17-8 at Central Park behind a 16-hit attack. Trinidad scored twice in the second inning and twice in the fourth before breaking the game open with a nine-run fifth. The Triggers added three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth to secure the victory.

Humberto Maldonado led Trinidad with three hits in five at-bats, including a home run, two runs and four RBI. Leyton Barry added two hits, three runs and three RBI with a home run, while Jacob Mitchell went 3-for-4 with three runs, one RBI and a double. Chris Lopez contributed one hit and two RBI, and Cutter Smith went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Cutter Smith earned the win after allowing nine hits and five earned runs in eight innings. He walked two and struck out nine. Kenny Stewart worked the ninth, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out one.

North Platte collected 12 hits, with Sean Bennett going 2-for-4 with a home run and an RBI. Garrett Flaagan had one hit and two RBI, while Coby Tweten and Tjay Mullins each recorded two hits. Seth Christiansen took the loss after surrendering seven earned runs on six hits in four innings, with four walks and two strikeouts.
