Triggers Rally Past 80s 8-7

July 18 2024 The Trinidad Triggers rallied from an early deficit to defeat the North Platte 80s 8-7. Trinidad trailed 4-0 after three innings before scoring three runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and four in the seventh. North Platte answered with two runs in the seventh but could not complete the comeback. Leyton Barry led Trinidad with two hits, three runs and two RBIs, including a double and a triple. Peter Bocchino added two hits and two RBIs, while Peter Pena went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Trinidad finished with seven hits and took advantage of four North Platte errors. The 80s collected 12 hits, with Rico Riley, Derek Wood, Cristofer Hernandez and Sean Bennett recording two apiece. Diego Evans earned the win for Trinidad after allowing three hits and two runs in 1 1/3 innings. Angel Garza recorded the save with a scoreless ninth inning and one strikeout. Jacob Faivre struck out eight while allowing eight hits and five runs over five innings. Kerry Wright started for North Platte and allowed four runs, three earned, on four hits in six innings, while Ryan Schroeder took the loss after surrendering four runs in one inning.
