North Platte 80s Pull Away From Trinidad Triggers 7-4

June 5 2025 The North Platte 80s defeated the Trinidad Triggers 7-4 at Bill Wood Field. North Platte scored three times in the first inning and added four runs in the seventh to secure the win, while Trinidad scored once in the second fifth seventh and ninth innings. North Platte outhit Trinidad 12-9, although both teams committed two errors combined with Trinidad making one and North Platte two.

Sean Bennett led the North Platte offense with two hits and three RBI. Coby Tweten added two hits two runs and one RBI, while Tj Beninati went 2-for-4 with three doubles and one RBI. Rico Riley collected three hits and scored twice. North Platte’s seven-run total also included two RBI from Bennett in the seventh inning. For Trinidad, Gleyder Abreu went 4-for-5 with two RBI and a double, and Kyle Jenson had two hits and scored once.

Trevor Nelson earned the win after allowing two runs, one earned, on seven hits in six innings with five strikeouts and two walks. Luke Harris was credited with the victory after pitching a scoreless ninth inning with one strikeout, while North Platte also received one-run innings from Rene Rivera and Cade Herrmann. Trinidad starter Alan Ramirez struck out seven in six innings but allowed five runs on 10 hits. Saul Samaniego surrendered two runs in the seventh, and Christian Diaz finished with a scoreless inning.

North Platte held a 3-2 lead entering the seventh before scoring four times to build a five-run advantage. Trinidad answered with one run in the bottom half and added another in the ninth, but North Platte’s pitching closed out the 7-4 victory.
