North Platte 80s Rally Past Kansas City Hormigas 8-7

June 20 2025 The North Platte 80s rallied past the Kansas City Hormigas 8-7 at Bill Wood Field. North Platte finished with seven hits and four errors while Kansas City collected eight hits and committed one error.

Kansas City built a 5-2 lead through five innings with two runs in the third and two more in the fourth. The Hormigas added a run in the sixth and another in the seventh, but North Platte answered with five runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 7-6 lead before both teams scored once in the seventh.

Coby Tweten led North Platte with three hits in five at-bats, while Garrett Flaagan drove in two runs and scored twice. Aidan Diltz, Sean Bennett, Benjamin Smith and Caleb Copeland also recorded RBIs for the 80s. For Kansas City, Nicholas Chaves and Devin Radar each had two hits, Oscar Galvez drove in two runs and Miguel Tejada and Julio Zamora added one RBI apiece.

Luke Harris earned the win after pitching a scoreless seventh inning without allowing a hit. Benjamin Smith worked six innings for North Platte, allowing eight hits and seven runs, three earned, with two walks and four strikeouts. Kansas Citys Brandan Nixon took the loss after allowing six runs on two hits in 1.1 innings; two of those runs were earned.
