Blackwell Flycatchers Hold Off North Platte 9-8

June 30 2025 The Blackwell Flycatchers held off the North Platte 80s 9-8 at Bill Wood Field. Blackwell finished with 10 hits and scored in four innings, including a four-run sixth that provided the difference in the one-run victory. North Platte collected 12 hits and rallied for three runs in the eighth and two in the ninth but could not complete the comeback.

Jack Skantze led Blackwell with four hits, two doubles and three runs scored. Dominic Scotti went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, while Jesus Valencia added a home run and two RBIs. Rudy Solis and Z. Meyer also drove in runs for the Flycatchers.

Glenn Simes earned the win after allowing six hits and three earned runs over seven innings. He walked one and struck out eight. Tanner Frank recorded the save with two-thirds of a scoreless inning, allowing no hits while issuing one walk.

Trevor Nelson took the loss for North Platte after surrendering seven hits and nine runs, seven earned, in 5.1 innings. Sean Bennett and Alex Kornblau each had two hits for the 80s, while Aidan Diltz drove in two runs. North Plattes late scoring narrowed the gap, but Blackwells early production and sixth-inning surge secured the win.
