North Platte 80s Pull Away From Blackwell Flycatchers

July 8 2025 The North Platte 80s defeated the Blackwell Flycatchers 13-8 at Morgan Field, using a four-run fifth inning and a four-run ninth to secure the victory. North Platte finished with eight hits and 13 runs, while Blackwell also collected eight hits but committed four errors.

North Platte and Blackwell exchanged runs in the first inning before the 80s built a 3-2 lead through four innings. North Platte added four runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to move ahead 8-3. Blackwell answered with two runs in the sixth and three in the eighth, trimming the deficit to 9-8, but North Platte’s four-run ninth put the game out of reach.

Rico Riley led North Platte with two hits and three RBI, including a home run. Ivan Santos also had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run, while Ryan Lutinski had one hit and two RBI. Caleb Copeland scored three runs, and Coby Tweten and John Haimowitz each added an RBI.

Markus Bracey paced Blackwell with two hits, two runs and three RBI, while Rey Lozano went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Mark Davis added one hit and two RBI, and Rudy Solis recorded two hits. Rene Rivera was credited with the win for North Platte, and Zach Meyer took the loss for Blackwell. North Platte pitchers combined for four strikeouts, while Blackwell recorded seven.
