North Platte 80s Rally Past Blackwell 14-12

July 12 2025 The North Platte 80s overcame a six-run deficit in the eighth inning to defeat the Blackwell Flycatchers 14-12 at Bill Wood Field. North Platte finished with 11 hits while Blackwell collected 18, but the 80s used six walks and scored six times in the eighth to take the lead after trailing 12-8 through seven innings.

John Haimowitz led North Platte’s offense with three hits, four runs and three RBIs, including a home run. Jake Boucher added two RBIs, while Sean Bennett had two hits and two RBIs. Alex Kornblau drove in a run, and Aidan Diltz scored twice as a pinch runner and later right fielder.

Blackwell built its lead with two runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings before scoring five in the sixth. Rudy Solis went 2-for-5 with three RBIs and hit his sixth home run of the season. Jesus Valencia had four hits and two RBIs, Nick Barton collected three hits and Markus Bracey scored twice.

John Luegering earned the win for North Platte after allowing three hits and one earned run in four innings with one walk and two strikeouts. Vance Serrano started for the 80s and gave up 12 hits and seven runs, five earned, in five innings. Blackwell starter Zach Meyer worked five innings and allowed four runs, while Owen Little took the loss after surrendering six runs in two-thirds of an inning.
