Blackwell Holds Off North Platte 12-11

July 15 2025 The Blackwell Flycatchers defeated the North Platte 80s 12-11 in a high-scoring game at Morgan Field. Both teams collected 15 hits, but Blackwell used a five-run second inning and scored in each of the final four innings to secure the victory.

Blackwell trailed 5-1 after North Platte scored once in each of the second through fourth innings, but the Flycatchers moved ahead with a five-run second. The teams traded three-run sixth innings, and Blackwell added single runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth. North Platte scored three times in the eighth but could not complete the comeback.

Dawson Wedeking led Blackwell with four hits, including a home run and a double, while driving in three runs and scoring twice. Rudy Solis added two hits and scored four runs, and Jack Skantze went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Joseph Boone had three hits and two RBI, while Jesus Valencia also drove in two runs. Rey Lozano hit a home run for the Flycatchers.

Dominick Pisano earned the win after allowing one hit and no runs with one strikeout and two walks in one inning. Glenn Simes started for Blackwell and allowed six runs, three earned, on eight hits over five innings. North Platte's Ryan Lutinski went 2-for-6 with a home run and two RBI, and Aidan Diltz collected three hits and two RBI. Cory Steward was charged with the loss after giving up two runs on three hits in 1.1 innings.
