North Platte 80s Pull Away From Blackwell 7-2

July 18 2025 The North Platte 80s defeated the Blackwell Flycatchers 7-2 at Morgan Field, using three scoring innings to earn the win. North Platte broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the fifth inning, added two in the seventh and scored twice more in the ninth. Blackwell’s two runs came in the sixth.

North Platte collected 14 hits, led by c. twetan’s three-hit performance. Caleb Copeland, Rico Riley, Ryan Lutinski and Garrett Flaagan each had two hits, while Copeland scored twice and drove in a run. Riley finished with two RBI and hit a home run, and Copeland and Pierce Salbego also homered. Salbego added an RBI, while Sean Bennett drove in one run.

Salbego earned the win after allowing two runs on seven hits with three walks and five strikeouts over six innings. Jason Kramlich, John Luegering and Corey Steward combined for three scoreless innings, with Luegering recording the save.

Markus Bracey took the loss for Blackwell despite striking out 10 in eight innings. He allowed five runs on 12 hits and hit a solo home run while driving in both of the Flycatchers’ runs. Rey Lozano had three hits for Blackwell and Joseph Boone added two.
