7/9/2026-Garden City Wind Defeat North Platte 80s 8-4

The Garden City Wind scored three runs in the first inning and never surrendered the lead in an 8-4 victory over the North Platte 80s on July 9, 2026.

Garden City jumped ahead immediately with three runs in the bottom of the first. The Wind added three more runs in the sixth inning and answered North Plattes late rally with two insurance runs in the eighth.

Peyton Lewis led the Garden City offense by going 3-for-3 with three runs scored, a walk and three stolen bases. Leyton Barry finished 2-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base.

Connor Huzicka drove in a game-high three runs, while Aidan Grabowski collected two hits, drove in a run and stole two bases. Darius Freeman added two hits, including a double, scored once and stole a base.

Garden City starting pitcher Ayden Yaeger delivered seven strong innings, allowing five hits and two unearned runs without issuing a walk. Yaeger struck out three and threw 60 of his 83 pitches for strikes.

North Platte scored twice in the third inning and twice in the eighth. Jake Boucher led the 80s by going 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a walk and two stolen bases.

Ivan Santos drove in two runs for North Platte, while Carson McCurdy and Lucas Rincon each recorded an RBI. Garrett Flaagan added a hit and scored a run.

Garden City finished with eight runs on 13 hits and committed one error. North Platte totaled four runs on six hits and played error-free defense.
