Garden City scored single runs in the fourth and seventh innings to overcome North Platte�s lone run in the sixth. The Wind finished with four hits and one error while the 80s collected five hits without an error.

Andrew Brautman led Garden City with two hits, including a double, and Jacob Talamante and Tobie Teke each drove in a run. North Platte�s Aidan Diltz went 2-for-3 with two hits, while Ryan Lutinski recorded the 80s� only RBI. North Platte also stole three bases through Caleb Copeland.

Trailing Blackwell 4-0 going into the bottom of the fourth, North Platte posted five runs that inning and a resounding 11 counters in the fifth en route to a 20-9 home win Wednesday their playoff opener at Bill Wood Field. Rico Rileys grand slam highlighted the pivotal fifth, which saw the 80s send 15 batters to the plate against four Flycatcher pitchers. Ian Santos also clubbed a three-run homer for North Platte as starting pitcher Joe Barrons got the win. Mark Davis had three of Blackwells 10 hits while Rey Lozano singled twice and scored three runs.

The North Platte 80s have declared their 10 rookies from 2024 roster that they are retaining for 2025 season. Coach Todd Everleth was the first in the Pecos League to release this list. Although it is possible these players sign with higher level MLB Partner Leagues, if they return to the Pecos League These players Pecos League rights remain with the 80s.

2025 is the first time this rule has been implemented. It was necessary as a balancing act to prevent teams from taking other teams rookies. It helps teams like the 80s build their roster into a playoff contender. Once a player has obtained Veteran Status they are declared free agents and can move to any team without restriction.
